Losing Weight In The New Year

Almost everyone has made the commitment to get fit and lose weight in the New Year.  At One Big Health Nut, we like to think of the getting fit part as the best path to losing weight.  So really, the key to losing weight is exercising and getting your heart rate up on a daily basis.  Just be more active.   People who are more active can lose weight without making any major changes to their diet.

The more active you are with your body, the more energy your body burns.   That means you can eat more food without packing on the fat.   It’s what some have called the simple math of losing weight.  Basically, if you burn more calories than you take in each day, you will lose weight.  It’s that simple.

The holiday season has arrived again as it inevitably does each year. Once again we are all faced with the difficult prospect of managing our weight during this jolly season. Unless you have will power of steel, forget about losing weight for the next five weeks. You know the season will be filled with a plethora of delicious foods, tasty treats, and holiday cocktails. Trying to lose weight during this time will only frustrate you. Instead, concentrate your efforts on preventing weight gain and maintaining your current weight.

The holiday season is a series of minefields for people that are trying to watch their weight. The holiday parties lead to the holiday pastries. Gifts of cookies and candies and sweet desserts are common. Add the treats to the time constraints that prevent you from exercising, and the result can be weight gain. Yet some people still find a way to avoid these weight gain pitfalls. They limit the amount of the sweets they indulge in. They make sure they exercise, even if it’s less than what their normal routine demands. But even these enigmas may find an unwelcome surprise on the scale.

Experts agree whole grains promote weight loss and good health!

It seems like every day a news reporter is spouting a headline associated with some type of health and nutrition discovery. You are bombarded with conflicting stories reporting on the same subjects. It becomes difficult to know which news report is correct and so you begin to just disregard all of them. After all, many of today’s health news reports will probably be discounted on later news casts many months or years later. How are you supposed to know what’s good for you if the experts can’t even agree, right?

Eating a healthy diet is important. Whether your goal is to lose weight or build muscle, your body requires a variety of foods to obtain the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. Some people may find developing a healthy diet plan to be difficult, though. Many people suffer with food allergies or take medications that make it tricky to eat healthy. What do you do if you can’t eat fruits or vegetables or are allergic to healthy grains like wheat?
