If you bicycle indoors (for) 20 minutes will (you) continue to burn calories if you eat dinner afterwards?

Question: If you bicycle indoors (for) 20 minutes will (you) continue to burn calories if you eat dinner afterwards?

When you are engaging in any type of moderate to high intensity cardiovascular exercise, you will burn calories. For the first eight minutes you will burn the excess calories present in your bodies. After eight minutes you begin to burn fat. It is generally recommended that you do, at minimum, twenty minutes of cardiovascular exercise. This will ensure you are working long enough to burn both fat and calories.

Eating a meal after exercise will not counteract the benefits of exercise. Cardiovascular exercise is essential to good health and it is especially important if you want to acquire a flat stomach. You must burn fat to trim inches from the body and show off strong muscular abs. Your body may even still burn calories and fat at an accelerated rate immediately after you finish exercise. The exercise could curb your appetite, reducing the number of calories you take in at the meal.

Don’t take this as license to eat whatever you want at your next meal. You don’t want to make the mistake of replacing the calories you just burned with extra quantities of calories and fat. Do not eat more than you normally would just because you exercised immediately prior to the meal. You want the exercise to count for something and to produce results; otherwise it was a waste of effort.

Everyone needs to start somewhere with exercise. Bicycling inside for twenty minutes is an excellent start. Try to increase your time or speed at small intervals weekly or every other week. Adding in a weight training or resistance work out twice a week will really boost fat and calorie burning. In fact, you continue to burn calories at an accelerated rate for up to 17 hours after you finish weight or resistance workouts. So eating a meal immediately after you finish weight training workouts may even be the best time for you to eat!
