Will Creatine provide the extra boost you need?

Creatine became popular in the 90’s after two Olympic athletes revealed their use of the supplement.  The athletes credited Creatine with helping them train harder and perform better.  Following this revelation, supplements containing Creatine became a staple of many weight lifters and body builders supplement regiment.  Many of the body builders and weight lifters agreed that the use of  Creatine did in fact increase their energy levels and size.

Creatine is an amino acid the body acquires through the consumption of fish, meats, dairy products, and nuts and seeds.  The body stores the bulk of the acquired creatine in the skeletal muscles.  Creatine is used to promote muscle recovery and strength, increase energy, and to help increase lean muscle mass.  Creatine is said to promote muscle growth by allowing you to work harder because of the increase in energy and the faster recovery time.

The Creatine stored in the muscles will cause the muscles to retain added stores of water.  This causes the muscles to become volumized.  Creatine creates an environment in the muscles conducive to glycogen synthesis, creating additional energy that allow you to work harder and longer.  The additional stores of water also help with protein synthesis.  And protein synthesis increases muscle recovery time and muscle growth.

Creatine is an amino acid that provides essential nutrients to weight lifters, body builders, and individuals engaging in resistance training.  The evidence currently available suggests that women can benefit from the use of Creatine as much as men.  One of the Olympic athletes that used Creatine during training was a woman.  Creatine and resistance training can increase bone density, helping to prevent chronic bone conditions in later life.

There are some complications that can be avoided if you do not over use creatine supplements.  Make sure you drink plenty of water and fluids.  Creatine floods the muscles with water which can create a risk of dehydration.  Make sure you pay attention to your muscles to avoid overworking them and causing injuries.  The body can also become sensitive to heat.  You may want to talk to your doctor to make sure you do not overlook any possible side effects specific to any medications, vitamins, or current health complications you may already have.
