People often have an all or nothing mentality. This mindset can have a significant impact on achieving your goals. It can be very discouraging if you believe you will only achieve results if you are able to exercise regularly and for lengthy periods of time. Although it is true that the more time and effort you dedicate to exercise the better your results will be, you will still benefit if you are only able to exercise intermittently.
The problem with the all or nothing mentality is that it can discourage people. And when people become discouraged they often give up trying. When it comes to exercise, every little bit counts. And that is the truth. If you are only able to exercise two days a week, then commit to those two days a week. If you do not have 45 minutes to dedicate to exercise, then spend 20 minutes exercising or split your exercise into two 15 or 20 minute exercise sessions.
Every time you exercise, you are accomplishing something. You are burning calories and fat. You are building muscle. You are strengthening your heart. And you are reducing your likelihood of gaining weight. Not everyone has a schedule that allows hours of time dedicated to exercise. Life is full of pressing responsibilities and everyone has to prioritize. Exercise should be one of those priorities, even if it can’t be your main one. So don’t decide to skip your work out because you can’t dedicate enough time to make it count. Every effort you make in exercise counts.
